• Description: "Blue Kai" is a safe, fast, comfortable cruising catamaran professionally built by Dufour yachts of France. My family just returned to Florida after a 2-year circumnavigation of the Caribbean. She has generous bridge deck clearance (you can drive your dingy beneath), and can sleep 10 comfortably in 2-queen births mid-forward, 2 doubles aft, and 2-V births (several times we comfortably cruised for two weeks with 2 X 4-person families on board each having their own hull) Each hull has 1- electric head and another head converted to storage space. Intercoastal Waterway capable mast height (64'), will carry good speed when loaded with cruising gear. Fully loaded with fuel, water, school supplies, etc. we regularly sailed at 8-9 knots. Empty she's a 10-12 knot boat (our personal best was 15.1 knots), Repowered in 2006 with naturally aspirated Volvo D2-55 hp diesels (2500 hrs each and oil changed religiously) will cruise on 1-engine at 7knts @ 3/4 gal/hr., I removed the engines in 2011 and had a Volvo mechanic refurbish with all new belts, hoses, fittings, etc., 2X new Volvo saildrives (2011), 2X 50 gal SS fuel tanks inspected and cleaned in 2011, 200 gals H20, SSB with Pactor modem, Furuno radar (new display in 2011), VHF, Raymarine tri-data and 7000 Autohelm with spare drive, 2 X 12v fridge, Xantrex 2000 watt inverter/ charger and spare Xantrex 60 charger, bottom painted in Grenada 12/2012 with Micron 66, she has all the goodies.
• Equipment: new dock lines, new fenders, 11' RIB with 2006 15hp Yamaha Enduro OB (new fuel pump and impeller installed prior to trip), 3-anchors including an 80-# Danforth as primary, windless motor replaced in 2010. Lots of spares, charts and goodies such as folding bike, Walker Bay sailing dinghy, surfboard, windsurfer, etc.
