Amel Maramu 46 - Beam: 13
- Draft: 6.5
- Description: Capable, proven blue Water cruiser. Amel builds nothing but strong, smart bluewater boats and Wind Waltz is no different. Everything on the Maramu is overbuilt. She is much stronger than most seasoned sailors and will take care of you when things get rough. Ketch-rigged for ease of sail handling and multiple sail combinations to match wind and sea conditions. Brings the mast height down to 55 feet from the waterline (including VHF antenna). This 1982 model has slab reefing system that is more reliable than Amel's early in-mast furlers. New sails (3) being fabricated and are included in the price. Both spars have mast steps for easy climbs aloft. Hull is solid fiberglass with cored deck. Hull and deck are molded together. There is no hull-to-deck joint to fail. It is one integral piece, creating a solid, failproof hull. Fin keel with skeg-hung rudder. Skeg is reported to be strong enough to support the entire weight of the aft end of the boat, meaning a grounding will not break off the rudder. Chainplates are constructed so strong, the boat can be lifted out of the water by them. Hard dodger and windscreen keep you and your crew out of the elements in the worst of conditions. No concern that a gust or wave will collapse it, unlike a canvas dodger on a stainless frame. Included is a canvas extension keeping the entire cockpit dry as a bone. Extra panels (included) can completely enclose the deep, safe cockpit. 3 inch scuppers drain any water that does make it aboard. Life RAILS all the way around as opposed to life lines. Belowdeck, the Maramu does not sacrifice comfort for all this stability. Cabins fore and aft ensure privacy for 2 couples. Two settees can sleep 2 more and make great sea berths. Tons of storage and spare parts. More pictures to follow or email.
