  • The SPINDRIFT 46 was built by Formosa Yachts using the same molds that built the FORMOSA 46. (1980: 1984). R. Hillier, of Brisbane Australia, oversaw the building of this yacht which was to be sold in the US for Bristol yachts of Newport Beach CA. For the Australian market, they were called the HILLIER/PETERSON 46. Hillier ran afoul of designer Doug Peterson who filed a law suit. Hillier died and the suit was shelved.

  • Sails: Full set of Kevlar sails in great condition. Additional set of dacron sails in good condition. Spinnaker pole and sail and main sail cover. Roller furler new in 2011.
  • Rigging: Rigged to race and win. Boom vang, cunning ham, adjustable back stay (leads length of each side of cockpit), reef lines lead to cockpit, all halyards lead to cockpit.

  • On Starboard side is the L: shaped settee berth which converts into a full size double berth 6’5” in length, On port side is a single settee berth, Outside of the settees are cane paneled lockers and deep, fiddled book shelves.
  • This well kept, shoal draft, freshwater boat has had many upgrades in the past, including a new Volvo Penta 3: cylinder diesel engine in 2003, Noise Reduction Insulation around Engine cover, new in 2014, New Impeller Cover for easy access to water impeller for cooling the engine, by Speed Seal – Life, a new marine head in 2000, a new dodger in 2004, the rest of the enclosure around the cockpit in 2009 and 2 new batteries 1 in 2013 and 1 in 2014.

  • Engine: Volvo: Perkins MDL 2050 50 hp with Saildrive and folding prop. 40 gal. diesel fuel tank.
  • Sail Plan: 150% furling Genoa with UV luff protection and a new (2016) full batten Main Sail. A Spinnaker Lift System is installed.
  • The Nav.Station includes a new (2015) EPIRB 409, a backup Icom M 59 VHF radio, a backup Raymarine Nav. Monitor (repeater and stand-alone functions), an Alpine AM: FM Radio (new 2015), the circuit breaker panels for AC and DC and the Truecharge 40 Watt control panel. An Icom M 710 SSB with Antenna Tuner allows for worldwide communication. 2 new (2016) AGM House Batteries (Lifeline, 4DA, 210 AH each) provide the necessary power for all electrical equipment. A separate starting battery is dedicated to start the engine only.
  • Water System: 2 S/S 20 gal Holding Tanks with Y- Valve for pump: out or overboard discharge, 2 fresh water tanks (total capacity 90 gal), and a DC/ engine heated water heater providing hot water to the heads and showers located in the aft head and the swim platform.
  • Additional equipment : The insolated S/S refrigerator is DC operated. A 1100 W Lewmar electric Windlass helps to retrieve the 21 kg S/S Plow Anker which is connected by a 65 ft S/S chain and 300 ft 5/8 Nylon rode.
