Cal 27 description- The hull is heavily built with hand: laid fiberglass, and the boat is reinforced at all stress points with marine plywood laminated to the hull, deck, and cabin top. An integral fiberglass hull liner provides additional strength. A few boats were built with a fixed keel and an inboard engine.
- The Cal 27: 1 is the first of 3, 27 ft designs by Bill Lapworth and manufactured by Jensen Marine. This design features an optional outboard motor and a pop top for extra headroom at anchor. With an oversize rig, this is a lively and fun boat to sail capable of 7 knots on a reach. While capable of sleeping 5, if you are looking for weekend getaways to Block Island, Montauk, or Greenport with a special someone this boat can be easily single or double handed.
