• Description: We are pretty compulsive about keeping our boats clean and “nice”; we have never worn our shoes in the cabin, for example. We also sweep out the cockpit and rinse the deck every time we go out for a few days. The mainsail is still crispy/crinkly; we normally stored it folded, in the original Catalina bag each winter. This boat is in good – but not flawlessly perfect – condition.
• Equipment: 5. I moved the battery from near the transom (where access was nearly impossible to access) to under the bench in the cabin; this was a great improvement in terms of convenience. However, I wasn't able to cleanly hide all of the wiring, so about 2 feet of heavy-duty wiring is obviously visible in the galley. This could probably be improved by replacing the battery-outboard wire with longer runs and employing some sort of conduit.
