Catalina 25 - Beam: 8
- Draft: 3
- Description: The Stone Horse 23-foot cutter (beam: 7', draft: 3'6") was designed in 1934 by Sam Crocker. In 1968, Matt Edey and Peter Duff of Mattapoisett, MA, adapted the design for fiberglass and built about 150 of these attractive pocket cruisers. They're well-known for their performance, seaworthiness, and easy handling. The Stone Horse has a full keel drawing three and half feet, displacing 4,490 lbs. with about 2,000 pounds of lead ballast. Sails include mainsail, furling jib and self-tacking staysail with wishbone boom (original Harding sails; 339 ft2 total area), plus nylon drifter, and deisel auxiliary engine (Westerbeke W10; 10hp, 171h of use). The Stone horse can be operated by one person, but the cockpit is large for comfortable day sailing and accommodates several persons.
