- The 27 has a swept: back fin keel typical of many 1970s designs. The configuration makes for less than perfect windward performance, but offers good reaching in return. A strong and elaborate winter storage cradle is required, as the keel cannot support the hull weight. With a spade rudder fixed at the aft end of the waterline, the 27's light helm responds quickly.

Catalina 28 description- This is a meticulously maintained bronze port and teak interior edition of a popular, seaworthy, full keel sailboat. All woodwork is regularly maintained. 2003 Honda 4: stroke is wintered indoors. New Sobstad mainsail, 2011. Jib and Genoa in good condition. This is an old fashioned classic with good looks and great sailing characteristics. Its set up for overnight cruising with gimbaled Origo stove, large ice box, s/s sink, foot pumped fresh water, porta potty, clean cushions and storage. After coming through Sandy without a scratch boat is on the hard and covered for the winter.
- I love this boat. It has beautiful lines and is very sturdy and safe. I've spent far more than $6,375 on it with new life: lines, all new bronze through hull fittings, etc. It is "not" in excellent condition, but not a total project boat. You can sail it and it starts right up. The Yanmar 2GM is a great engine and was new about 10 years ago I'm told. It doesn't look new now but does start right up every time.
