• In that book, Maynard Bray and Tom Jackson write in Chapter Six, “A parallel Evolution: The Racing Sloops” , regarding the 324 series “ Five boats were built ..all but one sloops. The choice of rigs reflected keen racing interests of these owners…low profile..nothing to impede visibility. ..it’s cross section gave the boat a boost to windward close hauled and as additional ballast as the wind piped up.”
