  • GrayLag, a True North 34, is a full keel cutter measuring approximately 41' overall including bowsprit, boomkin and Aries self: steering wind vane. She is stable and seaworthy with a beam of 11’ and a draft of 5' 6" and a classic look complimented by the exterior teak. Designed by Stan Huntingford and built in 1983 in North Vancouver with a fibreglass hull and finished on Vancouver Island, GrayLag has none problems with blistering or the structural issues sometimes found in the Taiwanese built versions.

  • History of Vessel: Kick Back has been blessed with a Rich History

  • There are two cabins on the J105. The forward V: berth is 7' long and will accommodate two. The headroom is 5'5" in the main saloon. The manual head is to port and has a wash basin with manual hand pump for freshwater. There is a hanging locker to starboard. The galley is to port and the chart table to starboard. Settees on both port and starboard side will sleep two. The storage lockers are located behind the backrests of the settees. The cabin sole is constructed from Teak and Holly. A 20 square inch hatch is located in the forward berth area.
  • In 1942, she ws purchased by the Maritime Commission, renamed and commissioned the USS John M. Howard (IX: 75) in honor of a late Navy ensign. Assigned to the Washington navy yard for duty under the Bureau of Ordinance, she was outfitted as a floating photographic laboratory. During the war, the vessel was used for ordinance experiements. in January of 1943, she departed Washington for 100 days of experimental operations on the Atlantic coast. In 1945, she was decommissioned and placed in service until November of that year.
