Hunter 23.5 description

  • 1995 Bruce Roberts Mauritius “SY Destiny “ is a well: maintained center cockpit ketch perfect for coastal/ blue water cruising or a very comfortable liveboard.
  • Trance is a custom built design by well-known naval architect Angelo Lavranos, constructed of aluminum (5083: H3 alloy temper). She is a serious, fast offshore cruiser, built for sailing all latitudes. She was professionally and solidly built in Cape Town by the renowned shipyard Jacobs Brothers, up to standards for handling conditions common in the Southern Ocean. She feels strong and tough in pounding waves, yet sails like a lady in light winds. The cockpit is deep and safe with the incredible hard dodger (“doghouse”). The transom opens to a swim platform where the windvane steering system is mounted.
  • Raymarine : E120 Chart plotter,26 mile radar, Fisfinder, Autopilot, ST60 Wind/Speed/Depth.
  • A fine example of these world cruisers and live: aboard vessels. Her life started in Lake Superior, in Wisconsin, and then she was moved to Texas. The owners at the time cruised her for a number of years across the gulf to the Bahamas, and ended up in Charleston. The boat then spent an extended period of time in Charleston, including a trip to the Bahamas. She then returned to Wisconsin in 2008, and has been in fresh water since then.
  • Copy Cat has undergone an extensive refit over the past five years. She is well: constructed and has benefited from new chain plates, standing rigging, running rigging, arch, new fuel tanks, removal of teak decks, new sails, new furling unit, new stack pack and much more.
  • $7800: negotiable (especially to a good home)
  • The owner of this much sought after Nelson: Marek designed Morgan/Catalina 43' CC has made many upgrades in the past four years. 90% of all the ports and hatches have been replaced. The sole has also been completely refinished during the past year. She easily sleeps six and the aft cabin master queen bed comes with a new mattress and a private head.
  • •2: 12 Volt Adjustable Fans
  • •The U: Shaped galley is to starboard and the navigation station is to port
  • The large forward "V" berth double and a pull: out salon couch can accommodate more guests. Loads of storage throughout this vessel is a BIG plus. Forward of the aft master stateroom you will find the engine room which is spacious and easy to access. There is a hanging locker on the port side with a bank of drawers next to it.
  • -Brand: New Head Pump
  • The forward V: berth has a bunk bed arrangement, the settee in the main cabin can be used for a 3/4 size bunk, and the private aft stateroom has a queen size bed. There are two heads, one forward on the starboard side, the other aft on the port side.
  • Custom built cold: molded cutter rigged sailboat is ready to set sail. She was launched in Vancouver, Canada in 2006 and proved herself as a reliable off shore vessel while sailing from British Columbia to sunny Manzanillo, Mexico. She has been a comfortable liveaboard for the past 8 winters and is presently in dry dock in San Carlos, Mx (only a few hours drive from Phoenix or Tuscon) where she is awaiting a new captain and crew.
  • The Hunter 33.5 is known to be agile and user friendly with her fractional: rig. Designed with a spacious, comfortable cockpit for entertaining, a walk through transom with swim platform for simple stern boarding from the dock. The interior is roomy and bright with an open floorplan, lots of headroom and storage space and a separate aft Cabin.

The owners also improved safety on board by installing new electrical wiring and conduits, a propane alarm, new autopilot linear drive unit, new steering sheaves and bearings, new HT anchor chain, an oversized 55lb Rocna anchor, and a MOB alarm. Finally, the rig received a professional inspection and some of the running rigging was replaced, much of it with high performance material (Spectra).

Hunter 23.5

  • : knot collision with a container which never occurred. After her circumnavigation, she was donated to the Naval Academy in 1986. In 1991, with three officers and nine midshipmen on board, she struck a coal barge in the Chesapeake and sank; the barge was not damaged. The aluminum racer Yankee Girl fell victim to errant navigation and washed ashore on a rocky Block Island beach in 1976, coming to rest in a foot and a half of water but drawing nine feet. She lay on her side for several months, dragged back and forth across the rocks. When salvaged, her topsides were dramatically deflected and distorted but her hull was never breached and she did not leak. It is the ductility of aluminum which enables it to absorb energy by distorting without breaking. In pointing out that aluminum, for the same weight, is stronger than steel, Dave Gerr, in The Elements of Boat Strength, also states that aluminum, being more ductile than steel is therefore also better able to absorb energy.
