- The result is a slim, fair underbody, with low wetted surface. In profile, the 37 looks as long and sleek as a lot of 40: footers. The secret, as it turns out, is that the boat gradually stretched out during the design process until its final overall length was almost 39ft. This is, of course, an excellent way to improve the looks of almost any yacht. The C&C 37 /40 looks sweet from every angle, with a nice sheerline, plenty of bow overhang and a sleek, unobtrusive cabin.
- Sails: The North main sail is full batten, with Mack Track slides in good condition, a Genoa and Staysail that are in good condition, and the original genoa and staysail sails that are in fair condition.
- INTRO: I purchased her in Padanarum, MA in 2008, from the second owner, and restored her to better than new condition. I have cruised her extensively on the US east coast, making three trips to Maine from RI, and two trips from RI to Florida and the Bahamas. I have a logbook documenting all travels and maintenance since 2008. The boat is currently out of the water in Cape Charles, VA.
- ENGINE: The Perkins 4-108 was rebuilt by TAD Diesels in Gloucester, VA during the winter of 2008: 2009, including the addition of a Bowman heat exchanger. The rebuilt engine has Balmar alternator, and a new TAD instrument panel installed in the companionway. A Racor filter was added, the fuel tank was drained and cleaned. A new Hurth transmission was installed in 2012. There are about 1200 hours on the rebuilt engine at this time (November 2015). The fuel tank is fiberglass and has 40 gallon capacity. The is an clean out / inspection plate on the top.
- ELECTRICAL WIRING: The boat was partially rewired for 12 volt and fully rewired for 120 volt in 2010. The new 12v /120 v distribution panel was installed in 2010. There are two sets of batteries. House batteries are located under a port side hatch in the cockpit. and engine starting batteries are under the stbd. side hatch in the cockpit. There are installed Xantrex 120v battery charger and a Xantrax 1000 watt inverter.
- Beautiful X: 41. She suits perfectly for racing and cruising at high average speeds whilst maintaining the most comfort possible. Exellent sailing performance in light and haevy conditions with great ship stability. I have maintained the boat very carefullly, did some repairs and replacements and made her also suitable for shorthanded sailing. New plotter and sails installed in 2015. The log stands at 6100 nm.
- This vessel can really move with excellent sailing performance in even the lightest winds : she readily sails when other cruising yachts have to motor. She can reach speeds above 20 knotts with daily runs approaching 300nm. Her performance as a cruiser has been well tested, having completed multiple ocean crossings.
