- Description: For sale: or trade 28.5 foot Irwin sloop, this is an older 1973, built with a heavy fiberglass hull in better than good condition for its age. The fiberglass hull has no soft spots or blistering and the decks are solid Boat had a complete upgrading of electronics, and mechanical systems. The boat has new main sail, & self-furling jib, all new lines. One plow anchor and 25 feet of chain with anchor line. The boat is powered by an Atomic 4 gas engine which was removed and completely gone over in 2012 before being reinstalled in the boat, The engine has good compression in all cylinders; rebuilt carburetor does not burn oil and runs smoothly. Transmission sifts smoothly and runs well. The boat has a new high output alternator, a new water pump, and new impeller. The boat has newly installed lighting system in main cabin and new electric panel with new wiring, new deep cycle battery, and new starter battery. The electronics in the boat consist of a GPS, depth sounder, knot meter wind, indicator all working and in good condition. The boat has had a new holding tank and toilet, and a newly installed rudder and tiller keel cable. Cosmetic condition is fair; it needs some TLC, it has not been used much over the last two years, and spends most of the last two summers on a mooring. The boat sleeps 5. I am selling because of health reasons. The book value is between, $5,000 to $6500. Irwin Mark 86.8 - : top which gives her a very distinctive feature. The 27 T2 displaces only 5400 pounds but is very quick and well built. The only critique with this 27 was the lack of headroom (Practical Sailor Dec 1995). The keel is bone dry and the cabin include Wine glass holder, CB radio, all necessary marine equipment, including five type II life jackets, and an additional 310sqft main sail. Two stroke engine and maintenance is conducted regularly. This boat is simply looking for a good home and a owner for the upcoming season. Owners feel that the boat stands up well to windy conditions, stating that they feel safe in the boat because she is stable and remains under control when the usual precautions have been taken. (Practical Sailor Magazine, June 1, 1995.) We love to sail and recently upgraded to a 34 footer simply because of additional stowing for our diving equipment. Our asking price is $6,000 but open minded to negotiations.
