• Description: The sailboat's 26 feet length is good for three reasons. First, it means the hull's speed is faster than a 22 foot boat (see below), second you get more sail area (Catalina 22 gets 206 sq ft, Macgregor 26s has 234), and third you get tons of room including space for a dedicated restroom (complete with portable toilet and 4 walls of privacy). Hull length is a factor because when you move forward you create your own personal wave that you then have to climb over to get past hull speed.
