- In 2014, Trance received additional attention in preparation for a two: year cruise to the Caribbean. Things that make life aboard even more comfortable include new upholstery in the saloon, a larger custom built holding tank, new double stainless steel sinks in the galley, a water filtration system, a new stove, and a water heater that supplies both indoor and outdoor showers with hot water. The owners also improved safety on board by installing new electrical wiring and conduits, a propane alarm, new autopilot linear drive unit, new steering sheaves and bearings, new HT anchor chain, an oversized 55lb Rocna anchor, and a MOB alarm. Finally, the rig received a professional inspection and some of the running rigging was replaced, much of it with high performance material (Spectra).

- Description: Solid, Charlie Morgan designed boat, which has taken me to several locations- Bahamas, FL Keys, Great lakes. Good shape for cruising but needs some cosmetic work. Includes 2-axle trailer w elec brakes on both axles. Tires in good shape. Just back from Keys last week.
- Equipment: Added push-pit, sea hood, dodger, fishfinder/depth. Vhf is old but works. Sea anchor, plow anchor, life sling, cushions, bimini (old), main sail, 2-130 head sails, drifter like new, marine head w Y valve for 2 kinds of pumpout,5 gal holding tank, 16 gal water tank, throwable cushions, house battery and starting battery, other cruising items. 5yr old 8 HP Tohatsu, rain/sun cover, cockpit removable teak table, extra sails.
Morgan 25 - : equipped galley, and the spacious cockpit, ideal for relaxing and entertaining. The standing rigging, upgraded to Dynex Dux, has reduced the weight aloft, added to her overall appearance, and although unusual on vessels like Picaroon, it has improved her performance and is still in great condition. On deck, the teak has been stripped and left to go silver which looks beautiful, and easier to maintain than having to varnish every season. The teak decks need a little TLC in places but it does not leak, and the magnificent Douglas pine masts are like new. The monitor wind vane steering is a great asset and works perfectly, giving the crew time to relax on extended passages. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, we are reluctantly having to curtail our adventures in the Caribbean. Picaroon has been well maintained whilst we have been cruising and she is shipshape and ready to sail tomorrow.

- Trance is a custom built design by well-known naval architect Angelo Lavranos, constructed of aluminum (5083: H3 alloy temper). She is a serious, fast offshore cruiser, built for sailing all latitudes. She was professionally and solidly built in Cape Town by the renowned shipyard Jacobs Brothers, up to standards for handling conditions common in the Southern Ocean. She feels strong and tough in pounding waves, yet sails like a lady in light winds. The cockpit is deep and safe with the incredible hard dodger (“doghouse”). The transom opens to a swim platform where the windvane steering system is mounted.
- Engine: Universal M35
- Interior layout is standard with a v-berth forward, dinette main salon with L: shaped galley & head opposite and a large aft cabin. Mermaid Marine reverse cycle air conditioning/heat was installed in 2001. All interior teak including the sole has been refinished in satin varnish. Ventilation is provided by cowl vents, a solar vent, five overhead hatched, & 8 opening ports. Two 12v fans supplement ventilation.
- The cockpit features a walk: thru transom, cockpit cushions, bimini & dodger with stainless steel frames, connector & side curtains. Sunbrella covers for winches & teak hand rails are included. Cockpit shower with hot/cold pressure water.
