  • This s an easy boat to sail and wonderful boat for live: aboards in southern or northern climates. This boat , even though built in the 80s, has been well maintained and is in very good condition. It is a turnkey sale. We are the sole owners and the boat has never been chartered. We can send you many more pictures via drop box. Just send us your email and we will send you the key to the box.
  • A very nice 27.5 ft. sailboat (Solaris) could be yours for you and your family to enjoy for many years to come. It is a 1978 Sun sloop with a fin keel and is a racer: cruiser designed by noted marine designer Robert Perry. It has standing headroom for most people. It comes with an enclosed head, sleeping arrangements for five, a dining table, ice box, alcohol stove and oven, chart table, hanging locker, etc. It is powered by an inboard Yanmar diesel engine. It comes with a mainsail, jib and 165% genoa plus compass, radio, depth finder, anchors, life jackets etc. It points very well to the wind and is easy to sail. It is moored at Oak Harbor Marina (pier A) on Rock Creek at 1343 Old Water Oak Pt. Rd. in Pasadena, Maryland. It is a great boat for both the experienced and novice sailor. It is in sailing condition and is ready for you to be the next captain.
  • ENGINE: The Perkins 4-108 was rebuilt by TAD Diesels in Gloucester, VA during the winter of 2008: 2009, including the addition of a Bowman heat exchanger. The rebuilt engine has Balmar alternator, and a new TAD instrument panel installed in the companionway. A Racor filter was added, the fuel tank was drained and cleaned. A new Hurth transmission was installed in 2012. There are about 1200 hours on the rebuilt engine at this time (November 2015). The fuel tank is fiberglass and has 40 gallon capacity. The is an clean out / inspection plate on the top.
  • Available now in Preveza, Greece : near Corfu. Croatia and Italy are within easy sailing distance, or start in the gentle Ionian Sea.
  • Works for women sailors and families : good bed linen, extra fridge freezer, new seat covers, well equipped kitchen, all lines lead to the helm, electric winch, even a washing machine!
  • INTRO: I purchased her in Padanarum, MA in 2008, from the second owner, and restored her to better than new condition. I have cruised her extensively on the US east coast, making three trips to Maine from RI, and two trips from RI to Florida and the Bahamas. I have a logbook documenting all travels and maintenance since 2008. The boat is currently out of the water in Cape Charles, VA.
  • ELECTRICAL WIRING: The boat was partially rewired for 12 volt and fully rewired for 120 volt in 2010. The new 12v /120 v distribution panel was installed in 2010. There are two sets of batteries. House batteries are located under a port side hatch in the cockpit. and engine starting batteries are under the stbd. side hatch in the cockpit. There are installed Xantrex 120v battery charger and a Xantrax 1000 watt inverter.
  • Sails: The North main sail is full batten, with Mack Track slides in good condition, a Genoa and Staysail that are in good condition, and the original genoa and staysail sails that are in fair condition.
  • UPDATE: See new exterior photos. Add to the above description that this boat is also a hurricane survivor. Yep we were visited in Charleston by Matthew but this boat came through without a hitch even though tied up on an outer slip. In one photo you can see the damage incurred by the next boat. But the Tartan showed no stress.
