- Description: El Shaddai was built for extended ocean passages with fuel capacity to travel 1200 miles depending on sea conditions. Before building was commenced I read every book I could find written by full time circumnavigators and tried to incorporate every suggestion I felt would improve our comfort and our safety. Suggestions that were incorporated included building the boat with a forward berth that could be closed off in the case of a breach. In addition to sealing the forward section the rest of the boat can be separated into three more sections to a depth of approximately 4 plus feet by placing boards in the built in steel channels . The engine is set up so that it can be used to drain water from that compartment in an emergency. The leading edge of the keel has a 2.5 inch steel pipe filled with lead to deflect any submerged objects that might be hit while cruising. The seams of the hull are welded inside and out. The bottom of the keel and skeg is Ѕ” steel. The boat can be lifted from the bottom of the keel and placed on the ground and supported by the keel. The masts were custom build by Seldon and are stronger that other manufactures building masts for production boats. . After the hull was completed the inside was insulated with polyurethane foam for soundproofing and keeping the boat cooler in the summer. The boats propane capacity for cooking is greater than a year and water supply is easy and endless with a water maker on board. There is also sufficient freezer space for 60 plus pounds of meat plus equally large refrigerator.
