Bavaria 38C

  • Beam: 12.8
  • Draft: 5.7
  • Description: The Moorings 405 offers all the performance, comfort and amenities of yachts much larger in size, price and ego. This was no simple feat. It required a close collaboration between three of the most knowledgeable and respected sources of yacht design and construction in the industry: The Moorings, the world's leading expert in sailing vacations; Groupe Finot, one of Europe's outstanding yacht designers and innovators in creating hulls with large, accommodating volume yet excellent performance under sail; and Beneteau, the largest manufacturer of quality production yachts in the world. She offers three double staterooms plus two complete heads, a large main saloon, every conceivable necessity below and on deck - all in a shallow-draft hull that can outsail cruisers several feet larger. There's more privacy and spaciousness than one would expect in a 40-foot hull, all fitted out with taste and style. And finished in teak and holly, with varnished teak cabinetry, stainless steel and easy-care laminates. The dining area is out of the traffic, each stateroom has room to stand and sit, the berths are oversized, the cockpit can seat more than the cabins will sleep, and the swimming platform is large enough for everyone to dive in - at the same time. Speed under sail comes from a powerful hull combined with an efficient rig and state-of-the-art keel, employing a streamlined bulb with winglets to more than offset its shallow draft. The sail plan was specifically designed to be managed by a single couple. Two couples could club-race. And three couples could cruise together in comfort for months.
