- Design : The main cabin has 6' head room with an opening hatch and 8 opening windows and 6 fixed windows forward. A large dinette that can seat 6 persons on the port side. The is a large galley on the starboard side with two burner gas stove, sink ample counter space, cupboards below. The is a forward “pilot” berth area for another bunk or storage. The area has a stand up refrigerator, and large cooler.

- In 1942, she ws purchased by the Maritime Commission, renamed and commissioned the USS John M. Howard (IX: 75) in honor of a late Navy ensign. Assigned to the Washington navy yard for duty under the Bureau of Ordinance, she was outfitted as a floating photographic laboratory. During the war, the vessel was used for ordinance experiements. in January of 1943, she departed Washington for 100 days of experimental operations on the Atlantic coast. In 1945, she was decommissioned and placed in service until November of that year.

- Looking forward there are two single berth lounges. A fold: up table is secured to the bulkhead. Before entry the forward stateroom you encounter a large hanging/storage closet on the starboard side.
Hunter 430 - : sized bed. Moving aft on starboard is the very large L shaped galley with lots of counter space (with 9 cubic feet of refrigerator/freezer and/or ice box beneath). Aft of the refrigeration and counter space is the very roomy navigation area with large teak desk. Seating for the nav station is provided by the forward section of the double pilot berth. On port directly across from the galley is the door to the head that has hot/cold pressurized water with a large storage cabinet above it. The head area has a beautiful teak seat and is in the shower stall (with its own shower head and water controls). Followed aft by the enclosed owners stateroom with double berth, hanging locker, and separate entrance to the head. The interior is done in oiled teak. Teak is generously appointed and its joinery exceptional throughout
