Altough a very few information available to the US boaters because of the lack of advertizing in that era, the Elans 431 are some of the best in their class ever designed and built. This particular sailing yacht being realistically priced and an excellent value for money. A few yachts can beat on price for the brand / size / vintage / condition. A true blue water, capable of easy handling in all conditions, with virtually unlimited possibilities of adjusting the sail plan, and a "boat shape" boat. Fine, strong, intact sailing yacht. She is US flagged, not having EU or Croatian Vat paid. Second owner from new. She can be exchanged with no less than 40ft sailboat in the Med. Now placed in one of the best sailing locations on Earth, as National Geographic advises..
- Equipment: rudder on skeg, all fresh bottom paint May 2011, seacocks partially replaced, brand new cutlass bearing and rope cutter fitted on shaft. The exterior / interior design is unique. The boat features 2 aft cabins, each with head/sink/shower ensuite, spacious saloon, two forward cabins with pipe berths served by a 3rd forward bathroom. Her cockpit is some of the largest seen and well protected, also from the sun by large, fine bimini, completed with a long transom with seat / large locker under and bathing platform with hot/cold shower and inox bathing ladder. The cabin ceiling is doubled, allowing air to circulate and repel the heat. Selden mast / boom / vang / spin boom, mast and rig completely overhauled 2011, complete new standing rigging Navtec, new sails 2010, partially replaced running rigging May 2011, all new mast lights, new starting battery Sept 2011, the hot water boiler with hoses completely overhauled, brand new steering compass by Silva, new 25kgs Delta anchor, brand new toilet seats, a lot of new items brought. The teak deck and interior is in good condition having in view the age of the boat. As well the Yanmar having 7000 running hours but it works very fine, with new fuel filter added, inox fuel tank cleaned, service regularly done.

- We are selling to move up to a bigger boat. My wife and I are life: long boaters; but my wife was more a passenger, while I raced sailboats since I was 12 years old. We were not sure if sailing was for our family, especially as we commute from Pittsburgh, but we love it! This has become our weekend retreat.
- We bought "M&EM" four years ago. Of all the boats in the 5: 10k range we looked at when we bought her, when boarding this boat we immediately knew it was the one. No "boat smell", the cushions inside are clean and fairly new, everything works. We looked all around Lake Erie; we bought M&EM in Canada and sailed her home to her new home in Erie. The previous owner had her since c. 2000, and the owner before that had her since new, all on Lake Erie.
- Similar boats on Yachtworld.com are asking c. $7: 8k, we are asking 6.5 as we prefer the boat go to a loving new owner vs. maximizing the price. (Yes there is a hurricane damaged P26 for $900... if you're handy go for it!)
