Catalina 30 description

  • 1981 : 15' daysailer yellow & white. Great condition
  • 1982 Hobie 16 with trailer and lots of extras: hull access port, anti-pitchpole hydrofoils, surefoot: grip siderails, mesh tramp, upgraded jib traveler, carbon telescoping tiller, double trapeze wires, Hawaiian righting system and righting big bag, extra sails and boom (a little old), cat trax wheels, and extra parts. $1,000 or best offer. What’s the catch? The mast is bent. Buy a used one or I can offer some advice and parts to fix this one.

  • Hull: Cold molded west system epoxy laminated cedar veneers and carbon fiber over cedar longitudinal strip planking on mahogany and ash, epoxy laminated frames. Above water hull is covered with 6oz cloth and epoxy, painted with polyurethane.

  • History of Vessel: Kick Back has been blessed with a Rich History
  • In 1942, she ws purchased by the Maritime Commission, renamed and commissioned the USS John M. Howard (IX: 75) in honor of a late Navy ensign. Assigned to the Washington navy yard for duty under the Bureau of Ordinance, she was outfitted as a floating photographic laboratory. During the war, the vessel was used for ordinance experiements. in January of 1943, she departed Washington for 100 days of experimental operations on the Atlantic coast. In 1945, she was decommissioned and placed in service until November of that year.
  • Electrical and electronics: Electrical system was 12 volt coming from 2 battery banks located amidships under settee. Battery cables were lead aft to 2 separate explosion proof battery switches.
