Catalina Capri 67

  • Beam: 8
  • Draft: 2.8
  • Description: The Colgate 26, designed by Steve Colgate and naval architect Jim Taylor and built by Precision Boatworks in Palmetto, Florida, is a great sailing trainer, family daysailer, and one-design racer. It was designed specifically for Offshore Sailing School and is also used by U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and Maine Maritime Academy as a training vessel. There are also one-design fleets in Marblehead, MA, Nyack, NY, Lake Champlain, and the Great Lakes; also does very well in PHRF races (168). As a family daysailor, it is stable and safe, with a large, self-bailing cockpit surrounded by hard lifelines, berths below for four, and plenty of storage space. It is incredibly stable and stiff with lots of get-up, even in light wind, making it a fun racer.
  • Equipment: "Trouble" is hull # 276 and was commissioned in 2006 as the Colgate "Family Sport Package" with Arista blue awlgripped topsides with white boot stripes; new (never used)cushions for cockpit, v-berth and quarter berths (navy Sunbrella w/ white piping); port-a-potty; lifevests for 6; First-aid kit; Harken roller fuller and self-tailing winches; North sails with red/white/blue spinnaker; Doyle racing sails in 2009. Ready to roll on custom trailer with 8 poppits. 2010 replacement value of this vessel and trailer as provided by Colgate: $52,500. Just completed Marine survey for insurance. Also available, mooring mushroom w/ tackle.
